STATE/GOVERNMENT
- Patrick-Murray Administration announced a grant to help Boston Farmers’ Market expand services for low income customers.
UTILITIES
- National Grid released a new White Paper titled “Renewable Gas – Vision for a Sustainable Gas Network.” NGRID reports that renewable gas could meet up to 16% of the total gas demand in MA, NY, RI, and NH. The Fact Sheet can also be downloaded HERE.
- NSTAR profits surge 200% in Q2 2010.

REGULATORY
- WMECO filed for distribution rate increases effective February 2011.
- Fitchburg Gas and Electric d/b/a Unitil filed for approval of its basic/default service tariff filing effective September 1, 2010
- In Docket No. 10-ERP-11, Western Massachusetts Electric Company, submitted amendments to its Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
- Berkshire Gas Co. submitted a revised version of its Local Distribution Adjustment Clause Rate Schedule, effective August 1, 2010 (Docket No. 10-GAF-02).
- Hearing officer ordered National Grid to submit its procedural schedule by August 6, 2010, in its petition for approval to construct and operate a new transmission line in Auburn and Millbury.
- MA DOER and Unitil, National Grid, NSTAR, and WMECO collectively filed a joint petition for approval of a proposed timetable and methods for the solicitation and execution of long-term contracts for renewable energy (Docket No. 10-76).
OTHER
- U.S Department of Energy recognized the Massachusetts Stretch Code Team, comprised of staff from Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships, the Board of Building Regulations and Standards, and the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, for its innovative leadership in working together to develop, write and ultimately get adopted the first state-level stretch building energy code in the country.
- Cape Light Compact announces new rates, cautions “buyer beware.”
- Senator John Kerry hoping to achieve consensus on an energy and climate bill before the August recess, but prospects remain uncertain at best.
